Death Is a Temporary Thing

Run Time: 5:47.  Gospel: Jn 18:1-19:42.

We are also reminded when we celebrate the funeral rites of the Church, that life for all of us is changed and not ended, and that death is a temporary thing.  And all of that is because, of course, because Christ rose from the dead.  And it is in that hope, then, that hope of the cross that we find our joy and consolation amid the troubles of life.  And that today on this Good Friday, when we approach the cross and kiss our Lord, we see that perfect example of love.  Love as we sing in that hymn, “When I Survey the Wondrous Cross.”  Love, and tears, and sorrow, and pain, all mingled together.  That greatest example the world has ever known.  That greatest example that we are to imitate.
