Christ, the Good Shepherd

Run Time: 11:25.  Gospel: Jn 10:1-10.

In order to discern the voice of Jesus, we need to spend time with Him. We need too, to follow that image, we need to have our legs broken, so we can’t get away from Him for a while. One of the ways we can do that, to take the initiative, is something that we all know – to spend some time each and every day with the Lord in prayer. Maybe not formal prayer, but prayer none the less – conversation with God, by reading, by reflecting, by spending time with the Shepherd of our souls. And by doing that intentionally, deliberately, and repeatedly, we give Him the chance to truly become our Good Shepherd. And when we do that, when we begin to learn the sound of His voice then we can truly say with David in today’s Psalm (Ps 23), “The Lord is my shepherd” the great comfort is that truly there is nothing that we shall want.
