One of the people who, who had volunteered for this [Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister] in good faith, and desiring to serve the Church – and let’s be clear about that. Our activism doesn’t come from a place of … bad faith. Our need to be busy doesn’t come from a place of vice – but an honest place of virtue – misplaced I think. But this person said, “Oh well Father that was the thing that I do at Mass. Now what will I do?” Well, pray! Because if that’s not the first thing — if we don’t do that first necessary thing – we won’t be good at any of the others. Even the deacon and I – well especially us. It’s easy to get into a routine and well this is how it flows, and this is what needs to be done and prepared – and forget to pray.
